* Nemec /Kurka/Arata/Foppiano Genealogy*

Updated August 7, 2001

I am researching the Frank Nemec family from Bohemia. Frank or Franz and Mary or Maria Kurka had six sons, some born in the area of Aussig, Bohemia: Joseph Francis (my grandfather)b. Oct. 31, 1889, Frank Jr. b. 1890, James b. Aug. 26, 1892, Jerry b. April 8, 1898, Emil b. March 9, 1900, and Godfrey b. August 23, 1906. They came to the USA between 1906 and 1917; land records show purchase in Moorscroft, Wyoming. Frank Sr. returned to his homeland in 1928, leaving his sons in the U.S. Frank's mother was Agnes Nemec of Cestice. Mary's mother was Anna Kurka from an area near Prague. Any clues would be appreciated.

Also I am researching the Michael Arata family from Italy. Michael (b. 1863) and Nicoletta M. Foppiano b. 1871 in Genoa, left for the U.S. shortly after their marriage in Genoa. (Nicoletta's parents were Teresa Cordano and Giovanni Foppiano; she also had a brother, Giovanni.) The newly married couple moved to Montana and had five daughters: Florence b. 1891, Edith b. 1898, Violet b. 1904, Helena b. 1893, and Anne b. 1900. Again, any help regarding the above would be appreciated.
