I am researching the Brothertons that settled in Georgia before 1840.Levi Brotherton was the first of this line to settle there, in Dalton,Whitfield County, around 1840,moving from Eastern Tennessee.Levi was a Methodist Episcopal Minister and built the first church in Dalton. His son William Henegar Brotherton served with 39th GA,ACS, and settled in Atlanta, becoming police comissioner, and member of city council in the 1870's-1880's.William's son,Frank Marcus, also lived in Atlanta, raising his family there. Both are buried in Atlanta.

    This place keeps popping up in the Carrere history..My Dad remembers living near there, but it's mentioned as early as 1890's...My great-grandmother Carrere spent summers there.
