| I am researching the GAJAN family genealogy. In 1898, Joseph Paul Gajan immigrated to the United States from Grenicz, Slovakia (then Austia-Hungary) and originally settled in the Scranton, Pennsylvania area. Eventually, he met and married a fellow Slovak, Susanna Kapralcik. They removed to California, Pennsylvania and began a family of 8 children. The family knows that Joseph had a sister with the married name Mudry in the Scranton, Pennsylvania area and a brother who is reported to have settled in California. We would like to extend our knowledge of these family lines. Unfortunately, we have only been able to trace the Gajan lineage back only one generation from Joseph and Susanna. We will search until our own sun sets.Matrilineally, I am also researching the RANKIN family, of Fayette City, Pennsylvania. I have traced back to William Lawrence Rankin, but my only knowledge past that is that his father was a Civil War veteran from Pennsylvania. I have found numerous veterans named Rankin, but have been unable to make a definite link.Clearly this Gajan Family Genealogical Home Page is a work in process. In future efforts, I will outline the family tree and post specific questions the family is looking to answer.I would appreciate any assistance, no matter how thin the thread might seem. I will be glad to help anyone else in the search for their lineage. |
