A letter from John Hoyck, Col., AGC, New York regiment, Chief Bureau of war records. The document entitled "Military minutes of the council of appointments, state of New York - 1983 - 1822" states that Moses Legg was appointed Junior Lieutenant in the year 1807, Lieutenant, in the year 1810, Captain in the year 1811, resigned in the year 1812. The Company organized in Onondaga County, New York was then commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Jacob Johnson, who commanded the 62nd Regiment, New York Militia.
