  This photograph is of James Francis Gallivan, patriarch of the Gallivan Family in South Carolina. He was born on November 9th, 1863 in Massachusetts and settled in Greenville South Carolina where he established the Gallivan Building Company. He died on February 2nd,1936 and is buried with his wife, Susan Callahan Gallivan in Norwich, CT. James Francis Gallivan was survived by three sisters (Mary, Julia, and a Mrs Merton Twiss) who remained in the Northeast (probably Massachusetts). He also had a brother Daniel who joined James in South Carolina as part of the Galivan Building Company. > James Gallivan's father was Timothy Gallivan (noted as Galvan in some records) from Northern Ireland and his mother was Mary Corkery born in the United Staes in New York.
