RE : GALLAGHER, HENRY, JOYCE and BRENNAN FAMILIES
I am researching the families of THOMAS GALLAGHER, late farmer,
of Rathreedaun,Bonniconlon,CoMayo, DOMINIC HENRY, late farmer, Cloondrihara,Ballymote,Co Sligo, JOHN JOSEPH JOYCE, late printer-compositor,Mountjoy Square,Dublin and JOHN BRENNAN, late builder,Hollybrook Road,Clontarf,Dublin all born in the late nineteenth century.
Like many Irish families over the centuries a number of their children emigrated - the Henrys being the most adventurous in this regard. Their descendants live in various locations around the world - the UK, the USA,mainland Europe,Canada,Asia, Australia as well as Ireland.I have relied on the Census of Ireland Returns of 1901 and 1911 for much of the earlier information compiled to date.Family members have also been very helpful, notably my sisters Noirin Abbott and Joan Mulcahy and my late sister Philo Gallagher. Aileen Colcleugh and her daughter Fiona Wozniac of Vancouver contributed hugely and Maeve Moore of New York was great as well.
Many of the younger generations in distant locations worldwide have never seen the country of their forebears and may never do so.For them, particularly,as well as family members who live in Ireland, I hope that this, albeit incomplete, record of the extent of their clan will be of interest and may encourage them to do some further research.
The project continues and many gaps remain to be filled. If you are reading this and have new information which is relevant I would love to hear from you. Also if you find any errors please let me know so I can correct them.
