Greetings,

I am interested in corresponding with fellow genealogy enthusiasts about surnames: GALWAY, GALLOWAY, GALOWAY, WATSON, SHIPLEY, McKAY, CROOK, MERCER, DAWSON, DOUCETTE, GALLANT, WATTS, and WISEMAN.

I can trace GALWAY surname to a marriage in 1855 in between George Galway and Jane Mercer on February 11, 1855. The marriage took place in Ballyvaddy, Agahaloo, County Tyrone in St. John's Church, Parish of Agahaloo, Diocese of Armagh. I believe this is near a place called Caledon, 50 miles or so Southwest of Belfast. The marriage produced 10 recorded offspring; James, b.June 13, 1865 d November 17, 1938; William John; Alexander Crawford b January 12, 1871; George Galway b July 5, 1868; David Galoway, b November 18, 1877; Francis Galway; Anne Galway; Andrew Galoway b March 28, 1873; Mary Galoway, August 4, 1867; Maria Galoway, September 15, 1875. Notice that several of the names are spelled 'Galoway'. They were written that way because that is the way they appear on the certificates I have from the government documenting the births and marriage. Hard to imagine an error like that within a family, but that is what the papers show. I am related to James of this family.

Places that are prominent in my family genealogy are: IRELAND, NORTH IRELAND, County TYRONNE, BELFAST area, CALEDON, Liverpool ENGLAND, Baltimore, Maryland, and Prince Edward Island Canada (PEI), Dyan, Ballygaussey, Ballyvaddy.
