Hello everyone. My name is Tim Gallagher. I'm looking into the following family names: GALLAGHER, FOLEY, BARDEN, and ROARKE.
These four families settled Waseca, Waseca County, Minnesota. The Gallaghers and Foleys stopped in Albany, New York and then Montello, Wisconsin on their way to Waseca. I don't know where Michael Gallagher (b1809?-d1903) came from, or if he came with other family members. Maria Foley (b1831-d1897) was from Elphin Parish in County Roscommon, Ireland. She arrived in the USA with her father John (d1860), and sibs Bernard, Patrick and Cecelia. I know just the name of Maria's mother, Ann Duneheam. I believe Ann died in Ireland before the move and John married again. Cecelia married a Finnegan in Wisconsin. Patrick married while in Albany and later moved to Waseca County. What happened to Bernard? Thomas Francis Barden (b1832-d1907) came from County Meath, Ireland. Thomas Barden's mother Mary Brady (b1807-d1887) made it to Waseca too. I don't know what happened to Thomas's father Michael. Did Thomas have any brothers or sisters? Did any of them come to the US too? Did any of his mother's or father's family come? Hanora O'Rourke (b1834-d1923) came from Athlone, County Roscommon, Ireland. (Roarke is the spelling I found in Child's History of Waseca County). Hanora's parents Michael Roarke (d1860) and Mary Ferney (or Feeney) (b1805-d1887) made it to Waseca County too. Did Hanora have any brothers or sisters? Did any of the come to the US too? Did any of her mother's or father's family come? The Bardens and O'Rourkes came through Amboy, Lee County, Illinois on their way to Waseca County, Minnesota.
MANAHAN, MCCARTHY, TUOHY, and TOWEY.
These four families settled near Chatfield, Filmore County, Minnesota. Joseph Manahan (b1828-d1906) and Catherine McCarthy (b1834-d1915) may have come through New Orleans, and then Woodstock, McHenry County, Illinois on their way to Chatfield. There were many other family members traveling together in a group at least as far as Woodstook, Illinois, before splitting up to go to either Minnesota or Wisconsin. Joseph Manahan had many brothers and sisters with him. Catherine McCarthy had her father Martin and sisters Mary and Maggie with her. The Manahans were from County Westmeath, Ireland, and the McCarthys were from County Kilkenny. Edward Tuohy knew them in Woodstock, Illinois before settling on an adjoining farm in Filmore County, Minnesota. Edward met Margaret Towey in Chatfield.
MCCARTHY, MACKEY, MURPHY, MURNANE, MILLETT, and MCNAMARA.
Edward McCarthy and Ellen Mackey settled in Dodge County, Wisconsin. Mary Millett and Dennis McNamara settled near Hastings, Dakota County, Minnesota. Dennis McNamara was from County Clare, Ireland. Mary Millett was from County Mayo. John Murphy. Bridget Murnane
