The Gapes Family in New Zealand Updated November 22, 2000

I am researching the Gapes family that immigrated to New Zealand in 1859 and trying to prove a link between James Gapes who immigrated and his "parents" who brought him up in Newport and Widdington, Essex and later in London. Links have been found between his parents and the family trees produced by the Gapes family that immigrated to Australia and the Gapes family still resident in the UK. There is also a link with the Dellow family in New Zealand through James' sister Mary who married Isaac Dellow. A family tree showing all his known decendants has been prepared by Ross Gapes in Auckland, NZ, and me. It is currently being updated and will be published on the web shortly. Any contributions would be gratefully received. Copies of the exisiting printed document are available on request.
