Petition
To the Circuit Court, County of Fayette, Iowa;
The petition of Washington W Gardner of the town of Auburn in the county of Fayette respectfully showeth; That Samuel Gardner of the town of Auburn in said County of Fayette died in the said town of Auburn on or about the sixth day of Dec in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty Eight: That at the time of his death he was an inhabatant of the County of Fayette, That he left no will, as far as your petitioner has heard, or been able to discover, that he left Nancy Gardner his widow, with Six children, to wit: Washington W Gardner (Your Petitioner), Joseph Gardner, Sarah Gardner, Gibson Gardner, Mary Gardner and Absolom Gardner. And your Petitioner further ???????? that all the Goods, Chattles and Credits of the said deceased do not exceed in value the sum of Fifteen Hundred, ($1500.00) Dollars and your Petitioner prays that Letters of Administration of the Goods, Chattles and Credits of the said deceased may be granted by the Circuit Court to your, Petitioner.
