A Link To Bind Us To The PastUpdated December 6, 2000 | |
| Year after year goes by, Generations are born and die, Yet still our name lives on. Lives have been lived -- Long, noble lives and grand, While others are so short we cannot understand That they are gone. A pebble small into the lake is tossed, It sinks at once but never can be lost. Wide circles from this little stone we make Which sets in motion the whole bosom of the lake. Though short the lives or long, as pleases God, All sleep at last together in the sod. Each one into the sea of life was thrown To sink at last as did the little stone. But rings of memory 'round the place they fell, How well the one who's gone was loved, will tell. This book a memory ring will be; A link to bind us to the past; a family tree. --Genealogical Record of the Hopkins Family --C. B.
