Upon naming of grandson Robert, is said to have commented that Robert was a good name, he had a brother named Robert. Homesteaded land near Ford, Kansas. Built sod house in which Joseph Pinkney was born.

  Notes for JOSEPH PINKNEY:
From Warren Wilderson:
Joseph Pinkney, my maternal grandfather was a lifelong farmer near Ford, Kansas. Born in a sod hut to immigrant Cook Pinkney, he later was instrumental in bringing the telephone to the Ford area, sat on the local school board, and otherwise was a community leader. Joseph also invested in farm land in several areas around Ford, eastern Colorado and I believe Illinois. One of the family stories notes that Elizabeth was a teacher in the Ford school. Joseph wooed her, and one of the conditions of marriage was the addition of indoor plumbing to the family farm house (No longer a sod hut at this time). The plumbing came and the rest was history.

Joe Pinkney is found in the 1920 Kansas census, Ford county, Ford township. He is living with his father, he is age 32 and a farmer. His father was born in England and his mother in Ohio.
