He married MARTHA LAMPKIN September 27, 1812 in Hardin County Kentucky, daughter of JOHN LAMKIN and ANN FERGUSON. She was born Abt. 1786 in VIrgina, and died 1817 in Hardin County, Kentucky.

From Deed Book D pg 560 Hardin County Ky
This Indenture made this 20 Dec. 1811 between Thomas B. Holt of Hardin County and State of Kentucky of the one part and Jonathan Gardner of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnessed that I Thomas B. Holt have this day granted bargained and sold and doth grant bargain and sell unto Jonathan Gardner a certain tract plantation or parcel of land containing 200 acres be the same
more or less and bounded as follouth. Beginning at a white oak thence running south thirty poles to two oaks thence the same course continued 20 poles to a stake thence North 80 degrees west 126 poles in a Hah ? Hole? thence south 230 poles to the beginning together with all houses, orchards, waters, water courses and all the benefits thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said Jonathan Gardner his heirs and assigns forever. It being for and in the consideration of &350.00 In hand paid the receipt I hereby acknowledge two hundred and a half paid in money and one hundred and forty nine one half (1481/2 in trade and if the said lands should be lost by a prior claim the (said) Thomas B. Holt is to pay back to said Jonathan Gardner the money with its interest and doth warrant and forever defend the said lands and pre misses from my self and my heirs in witness I set my hand and affix my seal this day and date above written.

I Benjamin Helm Clerk of the county court for the county aforesaid do hereby certify that on the day of the date hereof the written Indenture for deed of bargain and sale from Thomas B. Holt to Jonathan Gardner was proven by the oaths of David Ferguson and Frederick Martin to be the act and deed of said Holt whereupon I have truly recorded the same in my office this 9th day of March 1812.

Known all men by these present that we Jonathan Gardner and John Lampkin held and firmly bound unto the commonwealth of Kentucky in the just and full some of fifty pounds United States currency which payment will and truly to be made and done our selves and hands and jointly severally and firmly by these presents seal and with our seals and date this 26 day of September 1812.
The condition of the above obligation is such that if there should be no legal cause to obstruct a marriage shortly to be solememnized between the above bound Jonathan Gardner and Miss Martha Lampkin for which a license this day agreed these the above obligation to be void else to remain in full force and virtue in law.

Printed in the January 1984 Quarterly

Jonathan Gardner and Martha Lampkin were married 26 September 1812 both of age John Lampkin on bond. In deed book D - page 560 Thomas B. Holt sold 200 acres of land to Jonathan Gardner 20 Dec. 1812: witness deed were Elijah Creal, William Gardner, John Boman, David Ferguson and Frederick Martin. In will book 2, page 288 - 290 lists amount of property sold 25 Oct. 1815 for Jonathan Gardner deceased by John Lampkin administrator with bond $600.00. In order book on motion of John Lampkin he is appointed guardian to Jonathan Gardner and Susannah Gardner
infant orphans of Jonathan Gardner deceased where upon he came into court and acknowledged his bond in the penalty of twelve-hundred dollars with John and David Furgurson his securities. The 11 Aug. 1817 the inventory of the appraisement of the estate of Martha Gardner was produced in court and ordered to be recorded 14 April the sale of the estate of Martha Gardner widow of Jonathan Gardner both deceased was sold by Jeremiah Lampkin administrator. These are Hardin Co. Ky. Court Clerk Records.
