Willis & Annie Shaw Grimes moved to Batavia from their Mill Creek farm and purchased this home at 215 E.Wilson St.,Batavia,IL from Uncle Jacob. Daughter, Reba, was born in the Mill Creek house. Florence and Madge were born in the Wilson St.House. Willis, a banker,postmaster and judge, then added the second story in 1888. Workmen, in cutting through the walls, found that timbers 8 by 8 of hand-hewn logs had been used.
