      257. Martha PHILBRICK, born 1633 in NH, Hampton; died August 04, 1694 in NH, Roxbury. She was the daughter of 514. Thomas PHILBRICK and 515. Ann KNAPP.

Notes for John CASS:
An English Puritan from St. Albans, England. Immigrated to
Hampton N.H. circa 1644. In 1648 married Martha Philbrick of
Hampton. They had nine children. Probate records of the Province
show he was a farmer and inn-keeper who was instrumental in the
establishment of Hampton. He bought and sold property. His
estate was appraised at L 940 lls. which was greater than any
person who had died in Hampton prior to 1680.

he bot the Wheelwright farm. Selectm. 1653, 1657, 1668, 1672,
1674, and d. in office 7 Apr. 1675. Likewise gr.j. 1663, 1668
and at death. Jury 1654, 1662, 1667, 1670. Lists 393ab, 394,
392b. Will 4 May 1674-13 Apr. 1675. His wid. Martha (Philbrick),
Lists 393a, 396, m. 30 Nov. 1676 Wm. Lyons sr., of Roxbury and
took her younger ch. there. He d. 21 May 1692 (will), and she 4
Aug. 1694 (will). They must have kept the inn, as her will
leaves 'half the drinks' to s. Ebenezer, half [p.132] to dau.

Notes for Judge Henry GREEN:
Henry came to Hampton as early as 1644, perhaps earlier. He was
a millwright by trade and a mill owner. He was twice chosen as a
commissioner to settle the Salisbury line; was selectman for 2
years; assistant of the inferior court; a justice of the Court
of Sessions; councillor from 1685 to 1689, and again from 1692
to 1698; and Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas, 1697-8.
