Josie worked for Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN. She also made quilts at home. She loved to garden. Josie was raised by her grandmother after Christina died. Christina had a miscarriage and got blood poisioning and died. She had asked her mother to raise Josie. Josie's stepfather William was very abusive, that is why Josie was raised by her grandmother. Josie's sister Lillian took care of her sisters and brothers. REFN: IN
Granny (Josie) once told me, over lunch, that her father, William Davis, had planned to marry her mother after she had the baby. When he learned that Granny was not a boy, he decided to run as he only wanted a son. When I asked how her last name was changed from what should have been Sain to Collins, she said when her mother married William Collins, that her name automatically changed with her mother's name. psg 2-11-07
