Dear Robin-

My name is James H.K.O. Chong-Gossard, and I am a direct descedant of
GEORGE BLOYER (1847?-1921) and SARAH WISHARD, by their John, who was my
great-grandfather.

I noticed from your webpage at that the
Bloyers are somewhere in your family tree, though I haven't figured out
where yet. It may be that you and I are distant cousins!

The information on your website has been extremely helpful in my research
on the family. I was only aware of the existence of my great-grandfather
George Bloyer, and did not know of his five siblings. I also knew the
married surnames of many of John Bloyer's sisters, but not their first
names, until I saw your website.

I am willing to share with you what information I have about my branch of
the family, and I would be very happy to learn all about yours.

As for myself, I was born July 2, 1969, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. My
birth name was James Harvey Gossard, but in 1991 I changed my name to
James Harvey Kim On Chong-Gossard (that is, I inserted my maternal
grandfather’s name into the middle of my birth name. My mother is Chinese
born in Hawaii). I now live and work in Australia, and go by my middle
initials, "K.O."

My father was the Revered Dr. John Harvey Gossard. Born in 1937 in
Hagerstown Maryland, he died in November 2002 in Florida. His branch of
the Gossard family were the owners of Gossard Mill in Hagerstown,Maryland;
all that remains of the mill today is “Gossard Mill Road.” My father’s
only sibling was a sister, Agnes May (nee Gossard) Rudolph (1941-2003).

My father's mother was Lillie May Bloyer, a daughter of John Bloyer and
Nannie Repp.

I have an older brother named Joel (born 1965), who now lives with our
mother in Honolulu. We have only two first cousins, the children of my
father’s sister: Darla May Rudolph (born 1969), who lives in Dayton, Ohio;
and Donna June Rudolph (born 1975) who lives in Hagerstown, Maryland. None
of us are married or have children, so we are the last of our branch of
the family (although I think Donna might be engaged).

Anyway, please find attached a .doc file listing all the information I had
(prior to seeing your website) about my branch of the Bloyer family. I'll
leave the information uncorrected, so you can compare dates, and we can
make certain that we are talking about the same Bloyer family. Most of
this information was obtained from newspaper clippings, “Who’s Who in
America,” and cemetery records that my father investigated.

I’d be happy for any corrections or additions you might provide
(especially about your own branch of the family), and I hope that my
research can offer you some new information, too.
