    Born in Orangeburg District, South Carolina. Enlisted March 22nd, 1862 at Suggsville, Al, into Company "A", 38th Alabama Infantry Regiment, at age 32. Name listed on "Muster in Roll" dated June 12, 1862, Camp Holt, near Mobile. December 16, 1864 - Captured at Nashville by forces under Maj. Gen. Thomas, Commander of the Federal Department of Cumberland. December 20th, 1864 - Transferred to Camp Douglas Military Prison, Louisville, Kentucky. January 2nd, 1865 - Transferred to Camp Chase, Ohio. January 4th, 1865 - Arrived at Camp Chase, Ohio. June 12th, 1865 - Took Oath of Allegiance to The Inited States at Camp Chase, Ohio June 12, 1865 - His Physical describes him as: Hair: Dark Eyes: Blue Height: 5' 8" Age: 35 July 6th, 1901 - Applied for a pension (Application for the relief of Confederate soldiers and sailors). States that he "Was wounded at Chickamauga in 1863, ball going through knee shinning the bones. So he has had no use of it, he is old, very feeble, not able to work, has very little income, no one to look to for help, for this cause we grant him a pension in class 4" M.E. Brandingburg signed his mark as a witness. Another witness who signed his mark the same day was Jessie Haskin(s).
