|I'm researching the families MANGERICH and RAKER The name RAKER may have been RECKER at some time.
Heinrich Raker was born Circa 1880 and married Maria Mangerich (Circa 1880-November 1, 1946) June 28, 1902 in Dyersville, Iowa. He had a brother, George (5/31/1880/May 31, 1880) and a sister, Anna (April 7, 1883-June 9, 1966). He owned a brewery in Dyersville, IA during the early 1900s. He died of tuberculosis in 1917. Maria died in Rochester, MN, where she was living with her daughter, Lillian, who was a nurse.
They had three children, Lillian Marie (November 9, 1910-June 4, 1991), Mildred Elizabeth (July 12, 1905-November 5, 1969) and Anthony (I believe), who died in 1917 of tuberculosis.
Maria Mangerich had a brother, Peter (July 20-1883-December 2, 1960). Peter's wife, Antoinetta MANGERICH (July 28, 1887-August 28, 1978) is listed in the SS Index as Antoinetta MANGERICK. He also had a sister, Anna (April 7, 1883-June 9, 1966).
I'm trying to find out more about these families, both of which lived in the Worthington, MN/Dubuque/Manchester/Dyersville, IA area.
I'm particularly interested in tracing backward to the German roots of these families, and also tracing the name RAKER, especially the 'original' name.
Any information on the RAKER or MANGERICH names would be greatly appreciated. Please email me at the address listed.
