To date, we are able to trace back into the mid 1850's where we found Yizchak Gastwirth from whom all current family members seem to descend.Yizchak, we believe, may have had 2 or more wives. He also had at least 3 children - Usher, Kalman and Chaya. We tend to believe that there may have been more children and that some of the 3 children that we know about may have had more than 1 wife. Several family branches include changed family names such as Garfield, Gilboa and Hollander.
