| There are at least six Wilson families in Rockbridge County. The branch that I am researching began with Robert Wilson, who was born in Ireland and died in 1745. John Wilson was one of his surviving sons. He married twice and died in 1754. Two of his four children were named JAMES AND WILLIAM WILSON, and they, on May 16, 1760, emigrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and thus began the Wilson clan in America. The Gauldin Family in America began with John Gaulding and descends from his line through WILLIAM TURNER GAULDIN, a veteran of the Revolutionary War. The Gauldin family eventually settled in Pittsylvania County, Virginia and Rockingham County, North Carolina. I would like to invite anyone who has any interest or affiliation with the Wilson Family of Wilson's Springs, the Wilson Family of Rockbridge County, or the Gauldin Family of Pittsylvania County, Virginia to contact me. |
