The Wilson's Springs Hotel
Timeline

The first building on the land
was built in 1775, but the character of the structure is not known except to say that it was a two-story log structure built by William Peoples., who made the original purchase from the Borden land grant. William Peoples then sold the land to William Porter on Sept. 4, 1780. (Deed Book A, p.276). Not much is known of the property from 1775 until 1810. At the death of William Porter, his widow Mary Porter sold the land to Daniel Strickler on Sept. 3, 1810 (Deed Book G,p.143). When Daniel Strikler became the owner, he enlarged and rebuilt the old log structure, turning it into a long, two-story frame building with a front porch that extended it's entire length. This building was first used as a "summer resort" by Daniel Strickler and the subsequent owners until 1940. At the death of Daniel Strickler, his executor, Joseph G. Trevey, sold it to William A. Wilson on November 16, 1843 for the sum of $7000. (Deed Book X, p.290) At the death of William Wilson, the property passed by the terms of his will to his three sons on March 7, 1882 (Will Book 24, p.58). Harry A. Wilson deeded his interest to John T. Wilson and David Orville Wilson on July 28, 1896 (Deed Book 85,p.52), and on Oct. 17, 1905, J.P. Moore was appointed Special Commissioner by the Court in Cause "H.A. Wilson vs. John T. Wilson's adm. etc." to sell this property which he did and D.O. Wilson became the sole owner (Deed book 99, p.8) At the death of D.O Wilson, the property was left by will to his widow, Virginia Alice Wilson for her lifetime, and at her death to D.O.Wilson's nephew, William Alexander Wilson III. The will was recorded on April 20, 1920 (Will Book 40, p.311). William A. Wilson used the property as a private residence and farm until his death in 1988.
