W.G. Atkins and his wife Maude were the parents of my grandmother, Nannie Bet Atkins. W.G. Atkins owned and operated a store and apple orchard in Woolwine, Virginia and was one of Virginia's unknown success stories, having brought himself up from poverty as a result of hard work and the entrepreneural spirit. At his death, he left nine children and his six sons themselves became successful businessmen.
