I am researching the Gault family that originated from the northern part of Ireland. Robert Gault or Galt son of Charles and Elizabeth Allen Gault born May 25,1675 was one of the founders and first trustees and elders of Pequa Presbyterian Church. James Gault son of Robert who accompanied him to Lancaster County, Pa. from the north of Ireland 1710, married a Mifs Allison. He succeeded to the Salisbury plantation and took up other lands adjoining, which descended to his five sons,Robert, who settled in Chester County, Pa.; John and James, who erected mills in the headquarters of Pequa Creek, in Salisbury, long known as the Gault Mills. Thomas, the youngest of the five sons was a pioneer in Cumberland County,Pa. Both Thomas and his elder brother James were members of the Lancaster Militia.
