The combination of German and Irish ancestry is an interesting mix. We are really enjoying meeting the wonderful people on our Collective Family Tree.
We did discover that our original Irish ancestor spelled his name COUSINS. That was a bit of a blow to those of us who felt "special" to be COUZZINS. (We're still special though, aren't we folks?)
Another discovery in 2001 was that our other Irish line, Kane, was originally Cain. What a wonderful thing to discover, now maybe we can climb over that brick wall.
Some of the surnames we're researching are: GAULKE, KLUENDER, GILDEMEISTER, COUZZINS/COUSINS, PICKARD, MEDES, LERG, LUPPERT, KANE(CAIN), BARBEAU(BARBOO), RICKARD(RICKERD/RICKERT) SHEAR.
