We have what we believe to be 'unconfirmed' information about the first of our ancestors on this continent. He was Jean Marie Gauthier (aka: Gautier, Gotie, Gottie, Gotier, Goliete, Goka, Goke) born in France and died in New York State abt 1812. His son John Baptiste Gauthier (aka: Goka, Goke) was born in 1803 in Whitehall, New York and died in Ramsey County, Saint Paul, Minnesota on January 7, 1885. His son George W. Gauthier (son of John B.) lived and died in Saint Paul, MN from 1853 to 1940.

Our ancestors search [hit the wall] with Jean (John) Marie Gauthier. Family stories up through the years would have us believe that he arrived with the French Army under the command of General Lafayette as a Drummer Boy in about 1777.

Resource information and/or resource links to data about the members of Lafayette's Army during the Revolutioary War and the War of 1812 will be appreicated.

My Family Tree research, includes the surnames of Gauthier; Goke; Goka; Claremont; DuBois; Brunelle; LeMere; Goulett; DeLisle; Dufrene; Archambault; Rouleau; LaRue; and many more, can be found in World Family Tree Volume 70 Tree 371.
