| Several have researched the line of Henry Gay who first appeared on American soil in Isle of Wight County, Virginia in the 1600's. Many follow the line from Henry down through to Thomas Gay and his wife Patience. Some rumor that they are descendants of Pocahontas, but, I have yet to see the proof. I am more interested in the family line that reached Georgia through Henry's GGgrandson Henry Simon Gay. He was the father of Obediah Gay, my husband's GGGGgrandfather. My research has united my husband's father and myself in a never-ending quest to fill in the gaps and to find out as much of the beautiful family history of the Gay name as possible. It is my hope to one day find the ancestors of our oldest Henry Gay and to have the sources to back up all of the contradicting information I have found on Henry Gay's family line.
