Within the last year,I have been gathering as much information on our ancestery as I can from family members. My husband's ancestory (Gehm and Froemming) and mine (Link and Gordon) are in various stages of development. I have most of the information on the Froemmings, starting with the first member,August Froemming, who immigrated from Neurnberg Pomern to Wisconsin in 1881 with his youngest son,Robert, aged 17. Robert is my husband's grandfather. Margaret Froemming Gehm, my husband's mother who is 92 lives with my husband and me and was able to provide much of this information. All of the descendents of August Froemming continue to live in Wisconsin in the areas south of Green Bay. I have been less successful in collecting the descendents of Richard Gehm who immigrated from Germany about 1870-1880's. The Links which are my father's descendents came from Germany also. What I have gathered is from information my mother had, which had been sent to my Dad in the 1960's. William Link was born in Berlin in 1806. He immigrated to Jamestown, Pennsylvania. Later, he moved to Detroit, Michigan where it is believed all or most of his children were born. While the children were still quite small, the family moved to Canada. Returning to the states, the family moved to St. Paul, Minnesota and then settled in Langdon Minnesota, a farming community south of St. Paul, in Washington County. Recently I was contacted by a cousin, Lawrence M. King CMSLKING@aol.com who has completed much of the Link lineage. I also was contacted by JEREMY LETHTO, St. Paul who said he had original pictures of James Link, Ross W. Link, Mary Ellen Link Glenn, Robert Glenn, Oliver Link and information about the Civil War and the 3rd Minnesota Regiment. If you see this JEREMY please contact me as your email will not go through. We would like copies of pictures and information and will send any and all of what we have. The Gordon clan is well documented. A family member in Canada put together a detailed family history with the first immigrant William Gordon being born in 1758 in County Armegh, Ireland and immigrating to Canada when he was almost seventy years of age. This book was completed in 1977. My goal is to find out whether it has been updated and if not see what I can do. Email me if you think any of these families may be your family and I can then send you via email what I have located. |
