Descendants of Jean Guenon: The First Seven Generations

      24. Edward3 Gannung (Jeremiah2 Genung, Jean1 Guenon) was born 1697 in Flushing, Queens, New York84,85, and died Unknown.

Notes for Edward Gannung:
He lived at Lake Mahopac, New York in 1747, 1752, and 1762. One of the signers of a call for a pastor in 1755 of the Western Congregational Society of Carmel, New York. He was in the Field book of Survey of lot #6, Philipse Patent, 12 April 1762. Mentioned in the will of his uncle John Gannung.

"The only knowledge of the descendants of Edward Gannung comes from the notes on the will of John Gannung and from the process of exclusion in the camparison of data of the descendants of the brothers of Edward. Edward's children are known only through the notes on John Gannung's will that was made about 1767 or 68. In this will only three children received property: John, Edward, and Joseph. This will also gives the names of three children of the son John and the only child of the son Joseph. From various sources it is known who were the children and grandchildren of the brothers of Edward, thus giving births as late as 1790 and later. It may safely be assumed that this Edward was the grandfather or great grandfatherof all of the name born before 1790 not otherwise accounted for. This seems all the more likely as the "strays" seem to have been born in the neighborhood of Lake Mahopac where Edward lived". [Mary J. Genung in "The History of the Descendants of Jean Guenon", 1906]
