| Welcome to the GENUNG/GANONG/GANOUNG/GANUNG/GA NUN family home page. All these families are descendants of Jean Guenon (1640-1714), a French Huguenot who fled the persecutions of King Louis XIV for a better life. He left France and went to Amsterdam, where he took the ship "Draetvat" under Captain Bestavaet in 1657. He arrived at Flushing, New Netherlands (Long Island) on 2 April 1657. The Genung Family Association is composed of individuals researching the descendants of Jean Guenon. There are no dues or newsletters. We exchange family lines and preserve that information for future generations. At this time there are over 22,000 descendants on file covering 19 generations. Most individuals are available at any Family History Center. |
