Find Family
This information has been collected by Andrew Palm Geria by personal testimony by family members while I visited Norway, and research performed by other family members and shared with me. My visit to the Konsmo homesite in Southern Norway in 1977 was met with great holiday spirt and welcome.

My mother Judevilla Charlotte Palm and I arrived at the Kristiansand airport to see a large crowd. At first I didn't think anything was out of the ordinary. To my surprise almost everyone there were my relatives who I met for the very first time. This was a splendid event which continued that day at my cousin Karin Pettersen's home in Sogne. There we met even more relatives and we all had a drink of Chateau Laffite Rothchild wine which I brought for the special occasion. We then took the ride to the homested in Konsmo where we stayed with Tante Klara and Onkle Toralv. The next day I awoke to Onkle Toralv grinding the coffee. After breakfast I was compelled to find Kirkenesset, the home site of the Palm family. I set out not knowing where it would be, but I remembered my mother stories of the stream that flowed in back of the home where she would wash clothes. I followed the stream North past the center of town past the church. As I walked past the homes I was pulled to a certain house just around the corner of the church. I felt in my gut that I had found Kirkenesset, it was a strong and simple house, with the stream in the back, someone had kept it well maintained. When I returned to the Oynde's house I told about my exploration and they told me I found Kirkenesset all by myself. This was a very special moment, it was touching.

Our stay lasted a month in which we met and enjoyed over 200 relatives, went numerous wonderful places, and I realized that I was more Norwegian than the other half of me which was Italian. I was able to pick up the language very quickly which I seemed to have a natural ability to do. By the second week I told my Uncle Toralv "Skal vaska da bielen Thurdag morgen" which surprised him and everyone in the car.

I extend great thanks to cousins Aage and Odd Glomsaker who took us places and showed my mother & I towns, cities, fjords, mountains, falls, valleys, and beautiful scenes all through Southern Norway. Odd and Anne Lise Glosmaker took us in a travel trailer from Konsmo, to Bergen, to Lille Hammer, to Kristiansand and home again. What a wonderful journey!

At the end of our stay in Konsmo with Tante Klara, who demonstrated and proved to me she can tell the future by reading coffee grinds, there was a great Palm Fest. It was held in the Konsmo schoolhouse and was attended by most of the then Palm family. There was a wonderful dinner with prepared speeches, all of which I have today hanging on my walls at home. Then there was dancing and a bit of drinking of the home brewed liquor. What fine people I met! I also met the part of me I have been searching for for most of my life. I knew who I was and I am proud to be a Palm.
