* Germany (Surname) Family Genealogy*

Updated July 10, 2010

Welcome to the Germany (Surname) Family Genealogy Home Page. My name is Harold Wayne Germany and this is my Home Page. I am a direct descendent of John(Irish John)Germany, colonial settler of the Augusta, Georgia area in the 1730's-1740's. He is my 4th. Great-Grandfather.
You have undoubtedly found family tree information on the internet that refers to a "Henry Germany" as the patriarch and his sons being John, Joseph, James, Robert, Alexander, William and Samuel. (Note: There is also an Edward Germany in the vicinity of Augusta, Georgia at the same time as the other Germany's). To the best of my knowledge, no one has come forward with documentary evidence that "Henry" ever existed or was the father of the individuals listed above. Cecil Germany of Meridian, Ms., now deceased, stated that some old timers THOUGHT that the father was named "Henry". Some of these old timers said that four (4) brothers came to America, others said it was six (6) brothers. It was very common in that time for parents to name children after their father or mother and relatives. That is why there are so many James Germany's, William Germany's and so on. If there was a "Henry", why do we not see the name being repeated in subsequent generations. The same goes for the name "Jacob Henry Germany" that I have seen on some websites as being the patriarch. However, no one has named their sons after Jacob Henry Germany.
There are some family tree websites on the internet that have made some erroneous assumptions and conjectures. Some of the information is inaccurate and misleading. If you visit any websites hosted by any of the individuals listed below in the contributor's section, I can assure you that those websites are as accurate as possible. I do have a few errors in my data as a result of some "merge" functions that I did and will never do again but these are gradually being corrected.
The majority of the information that you will find in my family tree has been submitted by various individuals or I have obtained from written sources. I strive to be as accurate as possible with information that I publish in my family tree. However, inaccuracies and inconsistencies do exist. When possible, I will make corrections. IF YOU DO DISCOVER AN ERROR OR AN OMISSION OR SOME PERTIENT FACT, PLEASE, PLEASE, PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION TO ME AT MY ADDRESS PROVIDED ON THIS HOME PAGE. IT WILL DO NO GOOD WHATSOEVER TO TELL ME THAT THERE IS AN ERROR AND YOU CANNOT SUPPORT A CORRECTION TO THAT ERROR.
There is also a Germany family message board at http://www.familyhistory.com where you can meet your "cousins" and post messages.
I want to especially thank the following contributors: Anne Wallingford (now deceased)(Nebraska), Kay Murphee(Texas), Carolyn Sue Martin(Texas), Wren Germany(California), Elvy Hammond(Alabama), Lois Wagner(Louisiana), Kimbal Taylor(Alabama), Larry Germany(Mississippi and South Carolina), Sydney Cardner(Florida), Helen Crain(Mississippi), J. Wesley Jacobs(Texas), Marsha Faulk,(Georgia), Margie Kirkland(Alabama), Karen Clark(Mississippi), Dawn Driscoll (Mississippi) and others.

CONTINUE TO SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE. ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PAGE WILL BE SOME SELECTIONS THAT WILL LET YOU VIEW MY FAMILY TREE INFORMATION. DUE TO A FAMILY TREE/GENEALOGY.COM LIMIT OF 2000 INDIVIDUALS ON MY HOME PAGE, I HAVE WITHHELD THE 7TH., 8TH., AND 9TH. GENERATIONS FROM PRESENTATION ON MY HOME PAGE. I HAVE OVER 2,700 MEMBERS IN MY FAMILY TREE AT THE PRESENT TIME AND WILL SEARCH MY FAMILY TREE FOR INDIVIDUALS NOT LISTED ON THIS WEBSITE.
