William at age of 46, left Kentucky in1828, in a covered wagon with 5 head of horses and son Mathew Davis, 19 yrs old, to come to Missouri. William also brought the "Old Oliver Family Bible", this Bible has been the source of birth and death records, and was passed down thru the generations. The following is written in the Bible: THIS OLD BOOK TO BE HANDED TO ONE OF ALFONZO OLIVER'S CHILDREN. NAME, HELEN OLIVER ELKINS HANDLE WITH CARE YOUR UNCLE CLAIBORNE OLIVER, 1968 CLAIBORNE OLIVER HAD THIS BIBLE MORE THAN 70 YEARS. IT IS SAID THIS BIBLE OVER 300 YEARS OLD. HANDED DOWN FROM GREAT, GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHER OLIVER. HE BROUGHT IT FROM KENTUCKY IN A COVERED WAGON. WHEN NONE OF FAMILY WANTS IT PLEASE PUT IT IN THE MUSEUM AT THE SCHOOL OF THE OZARKS OF MISSOURI. WRITTEN BY HIS SISTER MADA, 1968 This Bible was handed down to Jimmy Worley, Jr. from his aunt, Helen Oliver Elkins in January 2001.
