I'm researching the GFROERER family, specifically that of my grandfather, Eugene Gfroerer who was born in 1867 in Dornach, near Mulhousen in the Alsace. His father was Joseph Gfroerer and his mother was Marie D. Teufel who were from Weitingen, Germany. Eugene (or Eugan) came to Canada in about 1884. I know of my direct connections to Gfroerers in California (descendants of his two brothers, Romuald and Alphonse) and of other branches in Minnesota, Ontario, N. Dakota and New York to which I have not have made any direct links. These families all had the immigrant ancestor originating in either Eutingen, Empfingen or Weitingen, Germany, all within 20 kilometers of each other. I visited these towns last summer (1997) and was able to look at the original church records. Unfortunately, all graves prior to the late 1890's are now covered by a more recent layer and the headstones are gone.

I am also looking for BRANDLE or Braendle relations in the USA and Canada who were related to my grandfather, Frederick Benjamin Brandle, born in 1883 in Ontario. That family had its German origins in the town of Metzingen.

I would appreciate any help and will share what information I have.
