Paulo Giammona immigrated from Sicily in 1906. He established himself in New Jersey. After working in all forms of manual labor, he sent for his brother Joseph, sister Sarah and mother, Mary. They joined him in New Jersey.
His first marriage to Maria ended in her death. He then became a widower supporting four children, Carmen, Vincent, Theresa and Stella.

Emma Appel an immigrant from Hamburg, Germany married Richard McClure in the United States. Their marriage produced six children Richard, William, Patricia Doris, Joan, Ruth, and Emma, all born in New Jersey. Richard McClure died at the Veterans Administration Hospital in New Jersey, leaving Emma a widow.

Paulo Giammona and Emma Appel McClure married and two children were born, Carol Marie Giammona and Paul Robert Giammona.

I am seeking information on the years prior to Paulo's immigration from Sicily and Emma's immigration from Germany. Searching for this type of information is particularly difficult since it must be acquired directly from archival records in Italy and Germany.

Anyone with suggestions for search techniques would be greatly appreciated.
