John Morris Gibbs, b October
14, 1880 in Milam County, Texas, d December 26, 1956 in Houston, Texas and
buried in Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott, Falls County, Texas - was a son of James
Henry Gibbs, b 1832 in England, d February 14, 1890 in Rockdale, Milam County,
Texas, and his wife, Sarah Frances (Talley) Gibbs, b August 10, 1850 in Weakley
County, Tennessee, d March 22, 1918 in Lott, Texas and buried in Barclay
Cemetery in Falls County - a daughter of John H. Talley, b March 19,1819 in
Virginia, d ca 1902 in Milam County, Texas, and his wife, Panthea Matilda
(Henderson) Talley, b 1824 in North Carolina, d 1878 in Milam County, Texas.
John Morris Gibbs was
ten years old when his father died - leaving his mother with seven minor
children, who had to work hard to help their mother who was expecting another
child. The family was not able to keep the farm that James Henry Gibbs had
purchased, and in 1900, the family was renting. John and his siblings attended
school at Minerva, Milam County, Texas.
On June 25, 1911 in
Falls County, Texas, John was married to Pearl Lee Porter, b April 30,
1893, d
December 28, 1968 in Houston, Texas, and buried in Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott.
John and Pearl farmed
in Bell and Falls Counties until their retirement, when they moved to Houston
were several of their children lived. His mother, Sarah Frances (Talley) Gibbs
had lived with them on the farm before her death. The couple were the parents of
five children:

1912 in
Bell County, Texas d June 10, 1981- married November 10, 1931 in Falls County to
Mary Lida Johnson, b July 11, 1914 in Falls County, and had Eva Lois Gibbs, b
November 8, 1938 in Lott, who married Bobby E. Taylor of Houston, Texas; and
James Larry Gibbs, b May 1, 1947 in Houston, who married Delores Gwynn Thompson.
Ione Maurine Gibbs, b
August 14, 1914 in Bell County, Texas - married June 6, 1932 in Lott to Grover
Pinckney Stuckey, b September 25, 1911 in Hamilton, Texas, d April 2, 1979 and
buried in Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott. Ione continues to live in the home built
by Grover's father, Reverend James Stuckey. Grover was a carpenter all his adult
life. Their children were:

1933 who married
September 4, 1952 to Phyllis Ann Lunsford of Houston, Texas, and h.3d Joy
Kathleen Stuckey, Cheryl Jean Stuckey, and Kenneth Lloyd Stuckey; and Gloria
Jean Stuckey, b August 2, 1942 in Lott, who married Donald Ray White, b
September 7, 1941, and had Nikki Rae White, b June 28,
1967,
d July 21, 1968 and buried in Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott, Jill Leann White, b
October 23, 1968, and Donna Jean White, b July 20, 1971.
Anna Lou
Gibbs, b April 21, 1917 in Bell County, Texas-married July 31,1947 to Fred
Hardin Jordan, b December 23, 1917 in Arkansas. They moved to Houston, Texas,
and had Darla Jo Jordan, b March 18, 1957.
Ruby Lee Gibbs, b March 16, 1920 in Falls County, Texas - married January 29, 1938 in Lott to Jack David Borden, b July 26, 1920 in Falls County, and had five children: Ruby Pearl Jordan; John David Borden; Scarlett Jean Borden; Thomas Edward Borden; and Robert Ray Borden, b August 27, 1947 in Corpus Christi, Texas, d August 11, 1949 and buried in Powers Chapel Cemetery in Wilderville, Falls County, Texas. Ruby and Jack moved to Corpus Christi in 1942.
Curtis
Lamoine Gibbs, b November 21, 1922 at Lott - married March 14, 1963 in Houston,
Texas to Mary Hinson, and they had no children.
