I am researching the EBL and POPECK families of Evergreen, Alberta.
Originally from somewhere in Czechoslovakia, JOSEF EBL, his wife EMILY, and three children, FRANK, ROSE and CHARLES, emmigrated to the coal mining towns of south eastern BC about 1903.Two more sons, JOE and EMIL were born in Canada.
By 1905, the Ebls had homesteaded and settled near Evergreen in west central Alberta, where some of their descendants still reside and farm.
Frank married a local girl, ANNIE POPECK, whose family may have also originally been from Czechoslovakia.Annie's parents were FRANK POPECK and JULIA.She had at least 4 siblings; STEPHANIE, EMIL, CHARLIE, and FRANK WILLIAM (Bill).Bill stayed in the Evergreen area, Stephanie married EDDY COCHRANE and moved to California, and Emil and Charlie moved to the Vancouver area where they changed their last name to BLAKE.There may have been a fourth brother as well.
Any information on either of these families would be greatly appreciated.

I found a bapstismal certificate!!My first real clue to the EBL's Czech origins!Of course, the certificate is written in Czech (and some Latin), so I'm pretty sketchy on what it actually says.
But.....The EBLs (originally spelled IBL) apparently came from Libusin, in the judicial district of Slany.JOSEF was the son of Mateje Ibla and Katerimy Chryski.EMILY (originally spelled Emilie) was the daughter of Frantiska Drvoty and Veroniky Paspislove.
