About Our Family Research

My family research goes back eight generations to the village of Muirkirk, East Ayrshire Scotland were John Gibson and his wife Janet Anderson lived with their son's James born September 14,1793 and Peter born August 14,1791. On July 11,1815, at age 21 James Gibson left Scotland with his brother Peter from a port in England, probably Glasgow since it is close to the village of Muirkirk, on board the ship Atlas, no 604. These new settlers to Canada arrived in Quebec City on the 4th of September 1815. James Gibson met Magdeleine Delisle and they had one son James Senior Gibson born March 12,1823 in New Liverpool (St-Romuald, Quebec, Canada).
To date I have retraced all of my descendants and a tree as been made. My next project for 2002 will be to organize a Gibson family reunion in Levis, Quebec, Canada, to share our Scotish heritage and obtain more information on the Gibson's I retraced in Quebec, Ontario and the U.S.A.
Michael James Gibson
