Looking for information on Giffords in Monmouth and Ocean County New Jersey. Gifford's came from Massachusetts and settled in Shrewsbury (Wall) New Jersey. Annaniah Gifford B 1755 Shark River, Shrewsbury NJ M Lydia Freeman B 1761 had son John Gifford B abt 1784 Monmouth County Married Annie Morton B abt 1787 M 1807 had son Richard Longstreet Gifford B 1814 Howell Twp.married Hannah Brown B abt 1825 M 1840. They had son Asel Freeman Gifford B 1842Wall Twp who married Catherine Newman B 1848, N.J. M 1867 in Monmouth County, N.J. had son Walter William Gifford B 1888 in Wall, N.J. M Mary Kate McGuire of Ireland. Interested in any Gifford's of N.J. Also, looking for Clayton's of Lakewood, Howell, Southard area of Monmouth, Ocean County, N.J. in early 1900's. William H.Clayton 1840-1905 married Sarah Elizabeth Estell 1844-1916. William and Sarah had a son Richard Britton Clayton b September 27, 1875 in Southard and d March 29, 1937 in Neptune, N.J. Richard Britton Clayton married Mary J. Kelly, from Ireland b 1869 D 1905 in NJ. Richard and Mary J. Kelly had the following children: William T.Clayton Born in Howell June 6, 1892 and married an Angie. William and Angie had a bunch of children Thelma Clayton, Catherine {maybe Caddie) Clayton, William Clayton, John Clayton, Dorothy Clayton and maybe a Richard Clayton. They lived in the Lakewood area about 1937 or so. They also had a son Bud Clayton who died in Lakewood, N.J. or the railroad tracks. Was told father's hair went instantly white. Looking for children of William T. Clayton especially. Other children of Richard Britton Clayton and Mary J. Kelly were Catherine Pearl Clayton b Jan 14, 1901 in Lakewood, N.J.Died July 28, 1974 in Neptune, N.J. who married Walter McCaffrey January 1, 1920, John James Clayton Born Dec 21, 1903 in Lakewood, N.J. D Dec 16, 1983 in Neptune, N.J. m Louise Mouser , Martha Clayton B 8/8/1898 in Bethel, NJ Died in accident on Jan. 11, 1925 m Walter Behrens, Gladys Clayton B 12/29/1893 in Howell, NJ D 7/7/1976 in Wall, N.J.m Frank Clayton. |
