I recently started doing research on my family history as a school project, and now am really interested in genealogy. I'm currently working on the surnames: Bruce, Burton, Calvin, Gillean, Hutchison, Laycock, Philipson or Phillipsen, Riley, Robinett, Spurgeon, Spurgin, Troutman, Weaver, Wright.I am having the most trouble with the Gillean line. My granparents, Jack A. Gillean & Lucille Riley are from Jackson County, Arkansas. Jack's father was Alfred Alonzo or Alonzo Alfred Gillean, and his mother was Emma McAndrews. Alfred Alonzo's father was Alfred Alonzo Gillean Sr. He would have been born about 1865. My cousin, Lisa Young Gillean, has found information that it is very possible that he was a son of Hiram Archie Gillean. Hiram's parents were John Gillean and Sarah Ann (Sally) Dyer. Does anyone have any information that might help prove this? Feel free to contact me for information on anyone listed. Wondering where I fit in? I'm Julia Maud Troutman's great grandaughter.
