This website is an attempt to gather as much information on the Foreman's and their history. The name Foreman has two derivatives. The German line comes from "Fuhrman" meaning a coachman or teamster which could be a wagon driver or a carriage driver. The other is the English line and refers to the general occupation of husbandry, the keeping of pigs which was most common in the United States; "pig keeper". For either derivatives the name simply meant a form of occupation. There are several different ways of spelling from the German and the English and they were "Foreman, Fuhrman, Forman, Freeman, Furman, and so on. If you see this website and you have more information to share, I would love to correspond with you. Enjoy your browsing! Carla |
