| I have almost 1900 names in database and would be happy to trade information. Gillig back to 1750. Gillig likely came from Alsace-Lorraine or Hesse to Russia (Grimm, a Volga Colony) about time of Catherine the Great. Left at various times and some stayed. Some may be in Siberia or elsewhere in Russia now. Some in South America and in USA. Grandfather came over in 1907 and Grandmother (Heide) came over in 1905 and met/married in Bellwood, IL. Have Bagley or Baguley back to 1293. Been to see ancestral manor home in Bagley Manchester, England. Need help with those names plus Heide from Grimm, Russia (Saratov). Also Allison. Only have Allison back to about turn of century (19th to 20th) and in Georgia. Bagley coming from England to VA to NC to GA. On my wife's side, we are searching for Arwood and Witcher. Arwood is likely also seen as Arrowood and other close spellings. Probably from NC or TN. Pleas Arwood is grandfather and is part Cherokee. Witcher is also TN with some that may have gone to AR. Came from Southern IL at one time. |
