| My family came to Aroya in Eastern Colorado in 1921. They came from Nemaha County, KS (Axtell, Seneca, Clear Creek township, Baileyville). My great-grandfather was Alexander Gillaspie (my grandfather changed name spelling to Gillespie). Alexander was born in Virginia. His father is apparently T. D. Gillaspie. The other side of that family was Ladwig from Nemaha County via West Virgina. The Ladwigs immigrated from Mecklenberg, Germany around 1810 or so. Carl Ladwig, also listed as Charles, and Caroline Riebe-Ladwig had Caroline, Robert F., Eliza N., Victor and Albert Frederick. Albert Frederick Ladwig was my other great-grandfather. I also am looking for Carliles (William Arnold-father John Jesse, mother Mary margaret McDonald) from Pennsylvania and later Nebraska (Lincoln, Holdgredge, Alliance) and for Nevilles(Mary Lenora-father Thomas William, mother Theresa Marie Maher) from Illinois. |
