James E. Gillan was born in Ireland (exact place unknown) abt 1809,married Margaret Foy in Ireland (exact place unknown) and moved his family to Canada abt 1844. He entered the USA in 1845 and settled in St. Lawrence County, Brasher Falls area of New York. Family lore reports that he had 17 children but I have only been able to identify 5, James Jr., Michael, Thomas, Sarah and Kathryn. I have pieced together bits and pieces of the children and their children and so on but can't seem to cross the ocean to the Isle. Take a look and see if anything here ties to something you have and maybe we can help each other fill in the blanks. |
