I am researching the Elijah WALKER family. Elijah WALKER was born around 1760 or so. His family is said to have come from Scotland with several brothers to fight in the Revolution. His son, also Elijah WALKER, was born in 1802 in GA. Both Elijahs eventually made their homes in Tennessee, primarily Maury, Hickman, Humphrey, and Dickson Counties. I am also researching the DeBOARD/DEBORD family. The family was in Virginia in the early 1700's. Their ethnic origins are unknown. It has been suggested that they might have been Huguenots. A number of them were living in White County IL by the very early 1800's, after passing through NC and TN.
The GILMORE's are found in Toronto, Canada in the 1820's and 1830's. At least a portion of the family had moved to Macon County IL in the 1870's. Undoubtedly originally from Scotland, they may have come first to the U.S. and moved north to Canada due to Loyalist sentiments, or they may have been part of the wave of Scottish immigrants that settled in Nova Scotia. The JOLLEY/JOLLY line may have been very recently from Ireland. The DONALD and GIBB line came to America from Scotland around 1888, from the Perth/Dundee area.
For more information on any of these names in my line, see the Family Surname Reports (below), which contain 1) the individual's full name, 2) birth date (if known), 3) birth place (if known), 4) place of death, and 5) the surname of the individual's spouse.
