| I'm just starting out on my quest to document my family geneology. I am exploring my father's branch first, surname Levy. My father, Jerome Levy, is a 1st-generation American born (1922) and raised in Phila., PA. Father was Isadore Levy, born 1885; migrated from Luxemburg in 1906. Mother was Hannah Rosenburg, born 1893 in Hanover or Hamburg, Germany; migrated to the U.S. at 4 mos. Jerome has three siblings; Beatrice, Stanley & Helen. My paternal grandparents owned and operated a grocery store in west Philly. Isadore was a butcher and Hannah a grocer; the story is they consolidated their businesses when they married. The business moved several times along Baltimore Ave - 5647 & 5555 Baltimore Ave are addresses known. Surnames on my mother's side are Daniels (maternal grandfather) and Scott (maternal grandmother). Also from the Phila. area, though don't know (yet) how far back. Would certainly appreciate any information and/or pointers! Will be more than happy to share information, though that is rather spare at the moment. |
