I am John Holly Gilbert, descendant of Greenland Holly Gilbert and Dixie Adell Widner. I have information on the Gilbert's back to Scotland. They came to the United States in the late 1800's as coal miners. First they went to Pennsylvania then to Utah. My father's mother's side were the Jenkin's whom I have had little success in tracking. My GGrandfather (James Jenkins) was killed in the Scofield Utah Coal mine explosion of 1800. I can't trace him or my GGrandmother (Margaret Jenkins) back to Wales where they were born and later married. My mother's side is well documented. The Widners were a hard living bunch of Montana folk. Her mother's side were the Potter's. They have been traced back to William White who came over on the Mayflower.
