This family tree is of familes of Troy, Rensselaer County NY. They all came from other countries, the oldest being the Coons side and perhaps the Hunt's of Stephentown, New York. And let us not forget JOHN B. GAGLIARDY of Hudson NY, my maternal grandfather, from Alife, Naples Italy, and his wife Josephine Cardinale born in Hudson. I started out looking for my Chippendale side in 1999. My grandmother was Eva Agatha Chippendale, born in Troy NY abt 1875-76. She married Millard F. A. Franklin 1900-1901. This genealogy can be found at www.mostyn.com researched by my cousin Judy Mostyn-White. Millard's father, Benjamin Franklin (or Frankel/Frankl?) came from Russia, although he was also Polish. He married Sarah Heidenheim, born in NYC to Abraham Heidenheim and Carolina Schloss ? They were from Germany. George J.A. Chippendale (Eva's father) was born in Rochester NY in August 1842 to Mary Jane Kehoe and James Chippendale. By 1850 Mary Jane and son George were in NYC 16th Ward. 1860 has them in Troy, NY. Geo. was in the Civil War twice !! He married Mary Jane Dunbar, Sept. 15, 1863, daughter of Samuel Dunbar and Bridget (Burns or Byrnes), both of Ireland. Mary Jane was born "at sea" according to son Albert Chippendale. All census data has her born in Canada/Eng (for English). They came to Troy abt. 1847 from somewhere in Canada. Mother Mary Jane Kehoe Chippendale died in Troy somewhere around 1864. We don't know what happened to her husband James. He is not in 1850 census and I can't find him on Passenger lists 1840's. Then I progressed to my children's father's side GILLIE-HUNT-TAYLOR-WILSON-COONS-DABOLL and many many more. The stopgap here is Benjamin Hunt, born 1809 in Stephentown? NY, married to Catherine Niles, born 1813 in NY. She died in 1902 and he in 1893. The cemetery listings can be found at the Rensselaer County Genealogy website. I haven't been able to find who their parents were. I've got the tree up to about 400 individuals now and it's growing. I hope you will contact me if you find a name from YOUR family tree here. |
