He married (1) Agnes Johnston LOWE on June 15, 1812 in Logan, Kentucky²³³. He married (2) Elizabeth Francis (Betsey) PRESLEY on December 25, 1825 in Lincoln County, Missouri²³⁴.

John Richardson Gililland and Agnes Johnson Lowe Gililland moved
from Kentucky to Lincoln County, Missouri, in 1818. Their 3rd
child, William Lowe Gililland, was born 4 Nov 1817 in Kentucky.
Their 4th child, Levan Allen Gililland, was born 1818 in
Missouri. There are no records of Levan Allen other than his
birth. He may be buried in one of the early graves in Sulphur
Lick Cemetery, marked by edge-standing stones.
