Mrs. Gill (possibly Susan) came to North America from England and settled in Canada about 1800. She had children by a Canadian Indian. Mrs. Gill was born abt 1780-90. In the 1820's-30's she left Canada and appeared in Baltimore County, Md. with her son Joshua 1st born about 1809, and her daughter Sallie born abt 1815-1820. Both children were described as "indian in appearance". "Mrs Gill" was assumed to be her maiden name from England, although there were many Gill's in the Aberdenki Tribe in Odanak (St Francis), Canada. Have no hard information on where she came from in England or Canada. She died sometime before the marrage of her son Joshua 1st to Eliza nee Turnbaugh in 1838. Joshua/Eliza had 6 boys and 3 girls. To date the following is known about their children: Thomas E. b 20 Apr 1863 d 23 Mar 1942, Jacob R.(my GGrandfather) b 24 Nov 1849 d 11 Dec 1925, Joshua 2nd b 24 Nov 1842 d 26 Mar 1922, William b abt 1839, Ann b abt 1841, Harrison, and George N. who was with Custer as a Quartermaster but Not at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. George was last heard from in Texas in 1887. |
